Customer Check-In
Check customers in when they arrive for their appointment
When a customer arrives for their appointment, you can check them in to track attendance. Check-in applies to all booking types — both scheduled appointments and walk-in bookings.
How to Check In a Customer
- Open the booking from the calendar or bookings list
- Click Check In
- The booking status changes from Booked to Checked In

Check-In Rules
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Same day only | You can only check in a customer on the day of their booking |
| Valid starting status | The booking must be in Booked status (or no status set) |
| Idempotent | Checking in a booking that's already checked in has no effect — it won't cause an error |
Check-in is a manual step for all booking types. Walk-in bookings are not automatically checked in when the customer completes their registration — staff still need to check them in when they're ready.
Booking Status Lifecycle
Check-in is one step in the booking's overall lifecycle:
Booked → Checked In → Attended
→ Missed- Booked — the initial status after creation
- Checked In — the customer has arrived and been acknowledged
- Attended — the appointment was completed
- Missed — the customer did not attend (or left before completion)
- Cancelled — the booking was cancelled (can happen from any prior status)
Walk-In Check-In Flow
For walk-in bookings, the typical flow is:
- Staff creates a walk-in booking
- Customer completes registration (via QR code, copied link, or Send to Kiosk)
- Customer fills out any required pre-service forms
- Staff checks the customer in when they're ready
- Appointment proceeds as normal
The customer's registration and form completion happen independently of the check-in step. You can check a customer in before, during, or after they've completed their forms.
If a customer has a standard booking rather than a walk-in, staff can also send that booking to a paired kiosk from the booking page when the customer still has incomplete forms to finish.

Use the filtering tools to quickly find today's bookings that need checking in. Filter by date and status to see all Booked appointments for the day.
