Submitting Overseas Vaccinations
Record vaccinations administered outside Australia
Record vaccinations that were administered outside Australia to maintain complete patient immunisation records in AIR.
When to Use
- Patient received vaccination in another country
- Migrant, refugee, or international student presenting vaccination records
- Traveller returning with vaccinations administered abroad
How to Submit
The process is the same as recording a new encounter, with the overseas toggle enabled:
- Open the encounter recording form
- Set the Date of Service to the actual date the vaccination was administered
- Select the vaccine and complete required fields as normal
- Toggle Administered Overseas to on
- Select the Country from the searchable dropdown
- Submit the encounter
When the overseas toggle is on, the country field becomes available. Select the country where the vaccination was administered.
Notes
- Use the same vaccine codes as domestic vaccinations — Light filters by date regardless of location
- The overseas indicator will appear as a badge on the immunisation history record
- Ensure you have patient documentation to support overseas vaccination entries
